DiS Circle Group Rules

Last modified: January 5, 2024

Here are the member rules and a link to our privacy policy, let us know if you have any questions about it.

1. Get involved, be helpful. A vibrant community is active and engaged. Be helpful to your fellow DiS community members.

2. Be kind. We want this to be a welcoming space. We encourage all to be open-minded and ask that you do not flame (we know, that’s a totally 2000s term) or attack others. This includes making derogatory comments, ridicule, excessive sarcasm, innuendo, hostility or trolling. All defamatory, abusive, profane, threatening, offensive, or illegal materials or language are prohibited. Please use good judgment – do not post anything to the group that you wouldn’t want the world to see. Harassment especially will not be tolerated.

3. Don’t be spammy! Don’t repeatedly send the same messages via direct message or copy and paste your message to various members. Avoid tagging people unnecessarily. While there are channels intended for the sharing of upcoming events and resources that members find useful, please note that this is not a commercial space, unless otherwise noted. Please refrain from using the channels and membership directory for commercial marketing. Communication between members should be personalized.

4. Give context. We are at different levels of understanding on specific topics, and we ask that you provide context to your posts. This platform is intended to spark conversations, so avoid just posting a link without providing an explanation as to why you are recommending it.

5. Be organized. Make sure you are posting your messages in the right space. Please read the space descriptions to ensure your message is on topic, and do not cross-post to multiple spaces. When in doubt, check our “space list” in our guide or reach out to the moderators.

6. Use care in your posts. Assume that what you say in your posts might be shared publicly. Also keep in mind there are people with all different ages, backgrounds, lived and professional experiences in our community. Please refrain from using any explicit images or graphic language.

7. Obey the law. When using the Circle, please comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to, intellectual property laws, antitrust laws and data privacy laws. Do not share commercially sensitive information or competitive information.

Please also note that everything in the Circle platform is also covered under Diversity in Sustainability's Privacy Policy. If you opt to be included within the BIPOC/BAME Speaker/Expert/Business Database, the information you provide in it will be public.
