Higher education is often seen as a prerequisite for those hoping to make a career in sustainability. However, communities of colour with firsthand knowledge of the environmental and social impacts of climate change face many barriers to higher education in sustainability fields.
Sustainability is an interdisciplinary topic, and diversity, equity, and inclusion is an institutional issue. In this report, we focus on the staff who directly affect students’ decisions to enter sustainability - admissions, faculty, student services and career services - and what they can do to create an inclusive and accessible sector of sustainability for the benefit of all.
